ABOUT US

For over 50 years Triangle Y Camp is a youth summer camp on the sparkling waters of Lake Sakakawea in Garrison, ND.

In 1956 the Minot Family Y and Minot Y's Men's Clubs began dreaming of a summer camp, and after untold hours of dedication and commitment, Triangle Y Camp held it's inaugural summer in 1964. Triangle Y Camp was the first YMCA Camp for boys and girls in North Dakota. The first summer of camp there were only 5 sessions, three for boys and two for girls ages 9-16. Each session was two-weeks long, and cost $55 to attend.

In the planning stages, the original concept of Triangle Y Camp was to provide an opportunity for campers to learn about ranching life, and experience moving cattle, branding, and taking care of livestock. While the horseback riding program continues to be a favorite camp activity, the other camp activities became more directed toward the interests of the youth in attendance- sailing, canoeing, and other watersports; riflery, archery, crafts, and nature were among the first activities.

Today Triangle Y Camp continues fulfill it's mission of welcoming all, and provide an exciting summer filled with new friends, incredible experiences, and memories that will last a lifetime.
